Planning a Siding Project in Ontario
A siding project can involve more than changing the visible exterior finish. Prepare a clear description of your goals and compare complete scopes of work before choosing a proposal.
Identify your goals
Decide whether you want to address damage, change the appearance, or include only certain walls. Photograph the current exterior and save examples of colours or profiles you like.
Include trim and openings
Windows, doors, corners, and transitions affect the final appearance and scope. Ask which trim and detailing work is included and which items are excluded.
Discuss removal and existing condition
Ask whether existing siding will be removed, how the exposed wall will be assessed, and how unexpected work will be priced and approved. Existing condition may change the work needed.
Review the proposal
Compare materials, preparation, removal, cleanup, timing, and payment terms. If roofing or eavestrough work is also planned, mention it so the sequence can be discussed.
