Roofing Estimate Checklist for Ontario Homeowners
A useful roofing estimate explains what work is proposed and what is included. Use this checklist to prepare your request and compare proposals for your Ontario property.
Gather the property details
Write down the property address, building type, and any known history of the roof. Describe leaks or visible damage and when you first noticed them. You do not need to climb onto the roof; share existing photos or photos taken safely from the ground.
Ask what the proposed work includes
Look for a description of the roof areas, materials, flashing, ventilation, removal, and disposal included in the proposal. Ask how hidden damage or additional work would be handled and approved.
Compare scope before price
Two totals may represent different work. Compare the materials, preparation, exclusions, and cleanup terms. Ask for clarification where the proposal is vague rather than assuming an item is included.
Discuss timing and written terms
Ask about scheduling, weather considerations, payment terms, and any warranty offered for your specific project. Keep the written proposal and confirm the scope before agreeing to proceed.
